Soltilo Bright Stars put up an impressive performance to knock out KCCA FC from the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Sunday at Kavumba Recreation grounds. It was a game full of excitement, and the fans were treated to some great football from both sides.
The hosts were dominant throughout the match, and it was no surprise when Noordin Bunjo came off the bench to score the only goal of the match in the 65th minute. Bunjo’s powerful effort found the back of the net, and the home fans erupted in celebration.
The Stars solidified their intent to win the match when Hassan Matovu, who had come on in goal for the injured Sanon Mulabi made a sublime penalty save to deny the visitors an equaliser after they had won a penalty and their forward Kankonde stepped up to take it.
The Soltilo Bright Stars team lined up with Sanon Mulabi in goal, Odong Jonathan, Omony Denis Kaka, Warren Buule, and Andrew Kyambadde forming the backline. Fiat Cleophus, Mandera Alex, and Kato Frank Kizanyiro were in midfield, while Loki Emmanuel Peter, Kasinde Ibrahim, and Nelson Senkatuka formed the attacking trio.
The team’s coach, Asaph Mwebaze, was ecstatic after the win and praised his players for their hard work and determination. “I am very happy with the result, and I want to congratulate my players for a job well done. We knew it would be a tough match, but we stuck to our game plan and came out victorious. This win will give us the confidence we need to re-ignite our form in the league,” he said in his post-match interview.
The team captain, Andrew Kyambadde, also expressed his joy and thanked the fans for their support. “We are overjoyed with this win, and I want to thank the fans for their support. We couldn’t have done it without them. We are now looking forward to our next match and hope to continue our winning ways,” he said.
Soltilo Bright Stars will travel to Arua to face Onduparaka FC on Wednesday, 19th April 2023, and we urge all our fans to come out in large numbers to support the team. Let’s continue to rally behind our boys as we aim to progress to the finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
