Tomorrow (Sunday, April 16, 2023) at Kavumba Recreation Center, Soltilo Bright Stars will play host to KCCA FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals. The game is set to begin at 3 PM. The Stars are hoping to recover from a challenging period where they have lost a few games in recent weeks.
In order to move on to the cup competition’s next round, the team will be trying to get back into their groove. This is currently the biggest game of the season so far, according to head coach Asaph Mwebaze, and the team will work to ensure they get a good result from it.
The emphasis will be on ending the game in the full 90 minutes, according to Mwebaze. “We have to take care of the business in regular time, but this being a knockout game, you can expect anything,” he said.
Hassan Matovu (GK), Jonathan Odongo, Etou Gideon, Warren Buule, Omony Kaka, Fiat Cleophus, Alex Mandera, Noordin Bunjo, Loki Emmanuel, Kasinde Ibrahim, and Nelson Senkatuka make up the likely starting lineup for the Stars. Soltilo Bright Stars are anticipated to field a strong lineup despite the absence of Kigunddu Derrick, who is out with a fever.
Before the game, defender Gideon Etou said, “We respect our opponents, but we do not fear them. We’ll make sure we prevail by giving them a run for their money. Given that they have a better Head to Head record against KCCA FC, with 2 wins, 1 draw, and only 1 loss in the previous 4 meetings, The Stars will enter this match with some confidence. The Stars eliminated KCCA last season, and this year they plan to do it again.
The team is urging their supporters to show up and cheer them on to victory. The Stars are prepared for what should be an exciting match against KCCA FC with the team in good spirits and a strong lineup anticipated.
