In a Uganda Premier League game played at the Kavumba Recreation Ground, Soltilo Bright Stars were defeated demoralizingly at home by URA FC 2-0.
The hosts entered the game hoping to avenge their most recent loss to UPDF FC, but they were unable to compete with the visitors, who were eager to pick up their winning ways following their unexpected defeat to Busoga United.
Despite a strong start, Soltilo Bright Stars soon found themselves behind as URA kept control of the match and utilised their goal scoring opportunities. In the 38th minute, Dada Ibrahim headed in a cross from Vianne Ssekajuko to give the visitors their first goal.
Late in first half added time, Ssekajuko was fouled in the penalty area, and Kabon Living made no mistake by converting the resulting spot-kick to double URA’s lead.
Bright Stars attempted to retake the lead, but they were unable to overcome a strong URA defense. They had their moments, including a chance lost by Loki following a gorgeous cross from Nelson Senkatuka.
Mulindi Ashraf also had a chance to give the home team the lead back, but his shot missed.
A 2-0 victory for URA sees them move up to fifth place in the standings with 26 points after 19 games, while Soltilo Bright Stars stay in tenth place with 24 points after 18 games.
In order to prepare for their upcoming match against SC Villa, Soltilo Bright Stars will need to quickly regroup after this disappointing outcome. Given that they did not capitalize on their opportunities, they will need to improve their attacking skills.
