Goals from Loki Emmanuel, Ibrahim Kasindex2, and Nelson Senkatuka enabled Soltilo Bright Stars to outclass Kiyinda Boys 4-0 in the Uganda Cup round of 16 match at the Kavumba Recreation Center.
This result ensures the team safely navigates its way to the Quarterfinals Stage of the competition.
From the outset of the match, the team looked solid and put up a dominant performance with intricate passing both from the midfielders and forwards and as a result, Loki Emmanuel scored an exquisite volley off a Kasinde cross, which enabled The Stars to go ahead in the 13th minute.
In the 30th minute, Kasinde, who assisted on the first goal, scored by calmly converting Omony’s cross. 2-0 was the final score in the home team’s favor in the first half.
It was a similar story in the second half where the team continued pressing and putting the opponents on the back foot with the latter only surviving off a few futile counter attacks.
In the 67th minute, the Stars made a double substitution, replacing Sam Senyonjo and Noordin Bunjo with Nelson Senkatuka and Nsereko Sharif.
Kasinde pounced on a loose ball that the opponents’ defence failed to clear and added his second goal of the day a few minutes later to give The Stars a cruising 3-0 lead in the 58th minute.
Just as the opponents thought it was over, Nelson Senkatuka, who had only been on the pitch for a few minutes picked up the ball in the midfield, twisted and turned his way to the 18-yard box and calmly placed the ball in the back of the net to give the team a commanding 4-0 lead.
Nelson could have doubled his tally for the day a few minutes later but his lob shot which had left the goalkeeper flat footed failed to dip in time to make it to the back of the net.
After securing this win and a quarter final slot in this tournament, the team’s attention will now shift to the Startimes Uganda Premier League where a visit to Bombo against UPDF is coming up on the 20th of March, 2023.
